Breeders of show dogs seem to be under attack from every side these days. So I've set up this blog to help get the message out that show dog breeders are not Public Enemy #1.
There is a great deal of anti-show-breeder propaganda to be found on-line and much of it is misleading and outright untrue. I'll try to address issues as they come up and give the other side.
I've been a breeder and dog show exhibitor for 30 years, and I am not about to let the hobby I love go without a fight. I am not an elitist or purist, as some accuse show dog breeders to be, I just happen to love the particular breed I have, and want to perpetuate it as well as I can. Most breeders of show dogs are very concerned about breed health and as guardians of these breeds are doing all that they can to produce healthy dogs.
I absolutely love doing this blog. It is great being able to say one's piece in defense of the sport we all love. If you have thought of trying blogging yourself, it is very easy. The system does all the work for you, publishing a very professional looking final product. There are plenty of free blog sites on the internet and they seem to have very lax content rules so you can pretty much say what you want.
If there is something you would like me to blog about, just let me know. I welcome any topical material of interest.
P.S. Unlike many others who speak out on purebred dog genetic health and breeding, I have no fear of being challenged on what I write, so I see no reason to moderate comments. One has to wonder why bloggers like Terrierman and ColdWetNose fear purebred dog owners and breeders so much that they feel they must censor comments? Or it could it be that they just can't defend their position? It just makes me wonder.
